Format
The format of this tournament is 18 holes of individual stroke play.

 

Rules

All play will be governed by the USGA Rules of Golf. Players will be provided a "Notice to Players" rules sheet containing local rules and conditions. The NYSGA will have volunteer Rules Officials on the course to provide rulings and answer questions.

 

Entry Fee

The entry fee is $160 and includes golf, cart, access to the club's range, an incredible dinner, exclusive tee gifts and higher value prizes.

 

Eligibility

The top-120 men and women on the 2018 NYSGA Amateur Series Points List (see above) will be invited to compete in the Championship at Rochester's Monroe Golf Club on Monday, October 1st. If a player is unable to accept the invitation, the next person on the list will be invited until the field of 104 players is reached.

 

Divisions, Flights and Tees

During registration, players will be prompted to select the division in which they wish to compete: Men's Division (All Ages), Men's Senior Division (Ages 55+), and Women's Division (All Ages).

 

Within each division, players are flighted based on their current USGA Handicap Index to compete for net prizes. The Men's and Men's Senior Divisions will have two flights (7.9 or less and 8.0 or higher) and the Women's Division will have one flight.

 

The following tees will be used (by flight):

 

  • Men's A Flight (7.9 or less) - Blue Tees - 6,242 yards, 70.5/129
  • Men's B Flight (8.0 or higher) - Blue Tees - 6,242 yards, 70.5/129
  • Men's Senior A Flight (12.9 or less) - Green Tees - 5,823 yards, 68.4/126
  • Men's Senior B Flight (13.0 or higher) - Green Tees - 5,823 yards, 68.4/126
  • Women's Flight - White Tees - 5,369 yards, 71.4/129

 

Course Handicap

A player receives 90% of their Course Handicap. A player is disqualified from a net prize/points if his net score beats the course rating by eight or more strokes and beats the next best net score in their division by four or more strokes. 

 

Course Handicap Reduction for Multiple Winners

A player who wins first place net in two or more events in a calendar year will have their Course Handicap reduced for the remainder of the calendar year as follows: after 2nd win –10% reduction of CH, after 3rd win – 20% reduction of CH, after 4th win – 30% reduction of CH, and so forth.

 

The NYSGA reserves the right to adjust a player’s handicap index at any time.

 

Prizes

The top net and gross finishers will receive prizes in the form of pro shop gift certificates. Prizes will be awarded immediately following the conclusion of scoring, and the pro shop will remain open following the awards ceremony. Unclaimed prizes will remain at the host club pro shop. The NYSGA will not mail unclaimed prizes.

 

Ties
Ties are broken using the USGA recommended method of matching scorecards.

 

Carts, Caddies and Spectators

Carts are included in the entry fee and all participants are required to use a golf cart. Caddies are prohibited from NYSGA Amateur Series tournaments. Spectators will be allowed on the course during play as long as they do not interfere with play. Spectators may NOT use golf carts, no exceptions.

 

Dress Code

The NYSGA will strictly enforce a tournament dress code with no exceptions. Collared shirts/mock turtle necks are required, and no jeans, denim, jogging outfits, or sweat pants are permitted.

 

Player Conduct

Players and/or their guests must conduct themselves in a reasonable manner at all times. Any excessive display of anger, vulgar language, club throwing, alcohol abuse, illegal drug use, lack of golfing etiquette or disrespect to a fellow player or any other individual may be grounds or disqualification from any tournament. The NYSGA reserves the right to revoke a player's tournament entry, without a refund, at any time for conduct deemed inappropriate or damaging to the NYSGA Amateur Series.
